Josie
My name is Josie, I am almost thirteen years old, and I live in Idaho with my mom, dad and little sister Bryn. I started this blog so that I could connect with other riders and write down all of my horsey experiences to look back on and share with my friends and family. I have four ponies named Corwen, Biscotti, Belle and Bear, and two mini ponies named Pickles and Tinsel. My mom owns a hunter-jumper barn so this is life as a trainers kid. Some of my goals are Onondarke Finals, Marshall and Sterling Medal Finals, Ronnie Mutch Equation Challenge, and Maclay Finals. I am very excited to share stories to you about my riding, home, barn and ponies.
Evans Royal Star
Corwen is my 18-year-old Welsh pony that we got from a family in Seattle when I was four. His birthday is July 2 and he is very good with little kids. He loves grapes and hates liver pools. I show him in the Children’s Hunter Ponies. He is amazing but he sometimes kicks out a bit in the lead change.
Rosehaven Gummy Bear
Bear is my nine-year-old Welsh pony. I got Bear as a five-year-old green pony when I was seven years old, and he has improved a lot since I got him. He is my heart pony! I show him in the Regular Medium Pony Hunters and I won 6th overall and 5th in jumping at Pony Finals 2025. His birthday is May 11th, and he is a champion apple bobber. He has the funniest personality and is very food motivated. Sadly, I have outgrown him so we are looking to lease him out this year. We are already qualified for PF 2026.
Pickles and Tinsel
Pickles and Tinsel are our cute and friendly mini ponies. My friend rescued them and then gave them to us. They are great at photo shoots and when we have horse camp they are fun entertainment.
Medowbrooks’s Biscotti
Biscuit is my 13-year-old, pony jumper. I show her in the .90s. Right now she is being leased out in my barn but I still own her and I still ride her about 3 times a week to get her ready for her kid. I also do a little equation and dressage with her but jumpers is her happy place. I went to Pony Finals 2025 with her and we won 5th in team jumping even though we only had three teammates so almost everyone else had a huge advantage. Her birthday is May 12th, only one day from Bear’s.
Steel the Show
Wrigley is an eq horse that my mom’s client was leasing. After their lease was over, he got a quarter crack. My mom wanted to turn him out for a few months to let the hoof grow out. The owner doesn’t ride and her daughter quit too. She decided to give him to my mom and I for my future eq horse. I groom, braid, bathe, and snuggle him everyday. He is about ready to be ridden! He is eleven years old and he loves scratches. He leans against you and wiggles his lips. That’s why I call him Wiggles.
Belle is my sassy project pony. She is five years old and just about the cutest thing you will ever see! She loves food and attention. She is amazing at jumping but very bossy and stubborn. I am about to start lead changes with her and I am. very excited!
Slackwater Butterfly Kisses
Rouge is my mom’s horse. She got him when she was looking for client horses. He was really green and only six. He jumps super well. He has the funniest personality. He licks with his tongue backwards and is terrible and apple bobbing. My mom lets me ride him, and hopefully I can do Junior Hunter Finals in 2027.
