My Own Horse
When I was younger, I never really liked horseback riding. It was always something my sister and mom were more passionate about. Every once in a while I would go to the barn with them and ride my sister’s pony, Rainy. I was pretty scared of horses at first, but the more time I spent at the barn, the more confident I became, and riding Rainy started to feel easier and more fun.
My sister rode every day and eventually got a new horse named Raymond. Being around the barn more often made me want the same experience having a horse of my own. Over time, I leased different horses, rode my mom’s horse, and even got the chance to ride Raymond once my sister grew out of him and before he was sold. That was when I really understood how special it feels to have a connection with a horse.
I played many sports, not just horseback riding, so I knew that if I wanted a horse of my own, I would have to fully commit. Once my mom saw that I was dedicated, responsible, and ready to take care of a horse, I finally got my wish. That’s when I got Typhoon.
Ty is my gelding, and I am incredibly grateful for him. Knowing that he is truly mine makes me so happy. Having your own horse takes responsibility, hard work, and patience, but it is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had, and I could not imagine my life without my horse and my barn family.
