Tips For Gray Horses
If you are reading this, you probably know that gray horses absolutely love to make your life ten times harder. Some of my favorite methods to keeping them clean are in this article. Number one is keep good supplies. I recommend a hard plastic curry comb if you live somewhere muddy but if your horse is sensitive definitely get Jack’s Scrub Mitt. It is hard at first but the rubber wears down and it becomes nice and soft. I also love using baby wipes and baby powder. I you are in a rush I highly recommend Cowboy’s Green Spot Remover or a mix of alcohol and water. Keeping a blanket on them as much as possible will also reduce the amount of dirt and work. If you live somewhere cold, where you cannot bath the horses throughly, I would spot clean them with a rag/sponge and some spot remover. Riley Conant suggests using a horse vacuum. They are very helpful when cleaning their coat of dry loose dirt. For full baths use whitening shampoo as they often have optical brighteners. To keep the tail clean, you can braid it and put it in a tail bag. These are all little tips to keeping your gray horse clean. I hope you use these methods!
